Luo Han didn't take Yan Luoxi back to Zhou Guangtao's house, fearing that the rogue Li An might suddenly wake up and cause trouble there.
He brought Yan Luoxi and Gu Xiaobei to Ming Lei's establishment 'Nine Heavens', where Ming Lei had reserved a private room for him long-term. Even Li Yi and Li An were unaware of its existence.
Luo Han's personal suite was spacious and luxurious; even late at night, the flowers placed around still glistened with dewdrops. The interior rivalled that of a presidential suite, but Yan Luoxi had no interest in admiring it, having overheard Luo Han call Zhou Guangtao earlier on the car ride.
She felt anxious and restless; time seemed to stretch endlessly before her. Even when Gu Xiaobei spoke to her, she responded absentmindedly.
Gu Xiaobei understood the girl's nervousness and refrained from disturbing her, instead turning her attention to Luo Han: "Husband, I'm thirsty! Get me a glass of juice!" "Husband, I'm feeling hungry. Order me some crab roe!" "Husband, my back hurts; massage it for me!"
Yan Luoxi watched as Luo Han happily catered to his wife's whims without hesitation and couldn't help but chuckle. No wonder Auntie Xiaobei had turned so demanding and domineering with such indulgent pampering from Uncle Luo.
Zhou Guangtao arrived promptly, and knocks were soon heard at the door.
Yan Luoxi's heart raced in an instant, her mind a jumbled mess. She felt helpless, wanting to open the door since she was clearly the youngest among them but found her legs too weak to move.
Luo Han went over and opened the door for Zhou Guangtao, who entered briskly dressed in his usual white shirt and black trousers, exuding an air of grace. Under the harsh light, Yan Luoxi noticed that Zhou Guangtao had darkened considerably and grown longer hair; a few new lines appeared at the corners of his mouth when he smiled at Luo Han.
Yan Luoxi suddenly had tears welling up in her eyes, and she desperately wanted to rush over and tightly embrace Zhou Guangtao, pouring out the fear, longing, and torment of these days, crying it all out.
But then she realized that perhaps she didn't have the right to do so anymore.
Zhou Guangtao politely greeted Li Haonan and Gu Xiaobei. He then turned around to look at where Yan Luoxi was standing, and upon seeing his beloved Yan Luoxi, his dark eyes instantly sparkled with emotion.
"Luoxi!"
Before Yan Luoxi could react, Zhou Guangtao had already rushed over and tightly embraced her.
"Brother Guangtao!" Yan Luoxi was nervous, disoriented, shy, but unwilling to back away. She also quickly returned the embrace; she never knew how much she longed for Zhou Guangtao and needed him.
Gu Xiaobei knew that with Yan Luoxi and Zhou Guangtao being reunited after a long separation, they would have plenty to talk about. So, tugging her husband's hand, she walked into the suite inside.
Zhou Guangtao and Yan Luoxi held each other tightly for quite some time, completely ignoring their surroundings as if the whole world consisted only of them.
After a long while, Zhou Guangtao finally let go of Yan Luoxi, wiping away the tears from Wang Zhangzhu's tear-streaked face and softly said, "Stop crying. Silly girl, everything is over now."
"Mm... mm..." Yan Luoxi had finally escaped her ordeal and returned to Zhou Guangtao’s side, but she couldn't calm down for a long time, only muttering repeatedly, "Brother Guangtao, Brother Guangtao... I thought I would never see you again..."
Zhou Guangtao smiled gently at her and said, "How could that be We won't part ways. We still have a long life to walk together."
When Yan Luoxi heard what Zhou Guangtao said, her body suddenly stiffened. Her heart was once again struck by a familiar feeling of guilt, shame, and profound sorrow!
Yes, it was sadness! A destined, near-fated kind of sadness.
"Brother Guangtao, thank you for bringing reinforcements; for finding Uncle Li and Aunt Xiaobei to save me," Yan Luoxi widened her eyes, not allowing tears to fall. She hoped so much that those past days were just a nightmare.
Zhou Guangtao scrutinized Yan Luoxi's face intently; he could almost guess what she was about to say next.
Yan Luoxi's voice sounded hoarse, her tone bitter, and her body weak. Yet, she forced herself to continue, "I know you're aware that these days I've been with Li An... Heh... Adult matters... You can imagine what could happen between us... I... I'm no longer... So we cannot walk the rest of our lives together..."
Yan Luoxi's voice grew softer, her face contorted in pain, and she began to choke.
"Idiot! Do you think I care about those things" Zhou Guangtao lovingly patted Yan Luoxi's head. Seeing the redness on her little face from being so choked up by these few words made him feel very sympathetic, "As long as our hearts are connected, nothing can separate us. You—Yan Luoxi—are the most kind-hearted, purest and most precious girl I've ever met!"
Yan Luoxi was deeply moved; her expression bitter, "I'm not as good as you say I am, Brother Guangtao. You’ve done enough for me. There's no need to pity me anymore. Let’s part ways. You can find a better girl who deserves you!"
"You think I’m pitying you!" Zhou Guangtao's face showed anger as he tightly grasped Yan Luoxi’s hand.
Yan Luoxi was inexplicably shaken. Zhou Guangtao's palm was warm and clean, completely different from the other hand that slightly carried thin calluses. Zhou Guangtao’s hand was wide and dry, making her feel warm and at ease, unlike the other hand which made her tremble all over with its intense heat and urgency.
Upon noticing Yan Luoxi's sudden tension, Zhou Guangtao calmed his emotions, moved her hand to his lips, and kissed it gently. He then spoke with unwavering determination, "Luoxi, when it comes to your relationship with Li An, I indeed feel conflicted, pained, and troubled, but I will not retreat or give up. The person at fault is not you; why should I punish my beloved because of another's mistake"
"Luoxi, no matter what hardships we face, I will never leave you. On the contrary, I will find a solution to ensure that we are together forever."
Zhou Guangtao spoke with certainty and without hesitation. Gu Xiaobei, who had been eavesdropping behind the door, couldn’t help but clap her hands.
Lǐ Hào Nán merely frowned at his wife’s somewhat lecherous act of eavesdropping, showing no embarrassment or attempt to stop her, instead indulging her.
Yan Luoxi faintly heard the applause from inside the suite. Zhou Guangtao's resolute expression gave her renewed confidence, and she felt it was excessive to continue being shy. She straightforwardly asked him, "Brother Guangtai, do you really not care about what happened between me and Li An"
"Of course I don’t! If I cared, would I be concerned for your well-being Would I go out of my way to find you Would I bring over everyone including Uncle Li" Zhou Guangtao pointed at his noticeably gaunt face and looked somewhat aggrieved at Yan Luoxi. "If I really minded your relationship with him, I should have given up this chance."
Yan Luoxi’s large eyes twinkled as she glanced at the tightly closed door leading to the suite. She then pulled Zhou Guangtao into a light kiss on his cheek.
Zhou Guangtao held her back, released a breath of relief and smiled contentedly. pleased smile again. "But she must have hit the jackpot somehow because recently she’s met a wealthy second-generation boyfriend who is loaded with money. On his first visit to our home, he gifted us...
